Any questions?

Why is my car appearing as not insured on MID?

The Motor Insurance Database (MID) is generally updated every 48 hours. However it can take up to 7 days to update after you buy your insurance policy.

Please double check your policy certificate and schedule to make sure all your policy details are correct. While waiting for MID to update, you can use your policy certificate as your proof of insurance.

How can I get my policy documents online?

All your policy documents are available immediately in your boom account (https://account.boom.co.uk/login).

What vehicle trackers are accepted?

When a vehicle tracker is required for your boom insurance, it must be a working Thatcham approved (category S5 or S7) tracker with an active subscription.

What if I'm in an accident with an uninsured driver?

If you’re in an accident with an uninsured driver, take their details and contact the Police.

As part of our comprehensive boom, boom Plus and boom Premium packages, we offer an ’Uninsured Driver Promise’, which means your excess and no claim bonus will not be affected if you’re in an accident with an uninsured driver.

Am I covered to drive in other countries?

As part of your car insurance policy, we provide the minimum compulsory insurance you need by law to use your vehicle within the European Union (EU), or any other country in the Commission of the Economic Community (EEA). Please take a look at your policy handbook for full details.

What should I do if I have an accident?

In the event of an accident, try to remain calm and make sure everyone is safe. Move to a safe location and call an Ambulance or the Police straight away if there are any serious injuries or the road is blocked.

Call the Police straight away if:

  • The other drivers leave the scene or refuse to provide their details
  • You believe the other driver does not have insurance
  • You suspect the other driver caused the damage intentionally
  • You suspect the other driver is under the influence of alcohol or drugs

The key details you can take to make sure your claim is handled quickly are:

  • Date, time, and location
  • Note the circumstances or series of events in the lead up
  • Contact details of any other people involved
  • License plates of any other cars involved
  • Names and contact details of any witnesses
  • Details of any injuries to any person involved
